At our annual Neuro Pride Festival, we celebrate Neurodivergent people, community, and culture. This year it will take place from 4-8 August. All Neuro Pride events will be online, but there will be some community-led picnics as well.
There are many conditions/ neurotypes that are considered Neurodivergent. Neurodivergent (ND) people have brains that work somewhat differently from the majority. Neurodiversity is biodiversity for brains – it is vital for a healthy society.
ADHD, Anxiety, Autism, Bipolar, BPD/EUPD, Brain Injuries, Cerebral Palsy, Dementia, Depression, Down Syndrome, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Epilepsy, Fibromyalgia, Giftedness, Migraines, OCD, PDA, PTSD, Sensory Processing Differences, Schizophrenia, Tourette’s, and many more!
Some of our events and spaces will be open to allies – neurotypical parents, partners, friends, educators, therapists, and members of the general public who respect and support us. We will share our culture, interests, and experience and hope that you will join us to learn more. You are welcome at all events if you accompany a Neurodivergent person for support. All we ask is that you respect our space/communication styles and do not talk over us.
Neuro Pride Ireland is a celebration of Neurodivergent (ND) people, regardless of gender, sexual or romantic orientation. You do not have to be LGBTQ+ to participate. However, there is a significant crossover of LGBTQ+ and ND identities. We will host at least one event exclusively for LGBTQ+ ND people.
It is the wonderful LGBTQ+ Prides world over that inspired the likes of Autistic Pride and Neuro Pride. We are extremely grateful for the model LGBTQ+ Pride provides.
All events run by Neuro Pride Ireland will be free and online. Most events will be on Zoom with some opportunities to submit pre-recorded contributions. There will be a mix of social, educational, and creative events. Please keep an eye on our socials for details!
Some of our community members are also getting together to celebrate in person by having summer picnics around the country.
You will never need to disclose your specific diagnosis or identity to attend an event with us. Self-identification is valid.
And for those of you who are questioning their neurotype – you are welcome in our community spaces and at all our meetups. We will also hold a ‘newbie meet’ for you and newly-diagnosed/newly-identifying folks.
A small but growing group of Neurodivergent volunteers are organising Neuro Pride Ireland. We are always looking for help and community feedback. See our team page to put a face to the name.
There is also space for informal, community-led events. You can use our private Facebook Group or our Discord server to get organised.
Anyone under the age of 18 can attend events if accompanied by an adult – unless they are specifically for over 18s.
articipants are welcome to have their children with them. Events that aren’t suitable for children to be around will be marked as such in the event description.
We are doing our best to be as accessible as possible given our limited resources. We will always welcome support people. All we ask is that neurotypical support people respect our space and do not speak over us.
You are also welcome to bring your pet, stim toys, fidgets, weighted blankets, ear defenders, etc.
Everybody is welcome to
- Follow/like/share our social media
- Tell your family, friends, groups you are involved in about us
- Send a short video message of support
